Fertility Treatments

Male Infertility

Infertility is not necessarily a lifelong condition. For men, treatments to address male infertility factors may include a round of antibiotics to treat infection, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) surgery to improve sperm delivery (intracytoplasmic sperm injection, or ICSI), or dietary and lifestyle changes to improve the quality of sperm.

In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF)

During in vitro fertilisation (IVF), eggs and sperm are put in the ideal environment for fertilisation. The treatment often leads to a viable pregnancy, and allows people who would otherwise struggle to conceive to raise a family.

Shared Motherhood

When same-sex female couples want to start a family, shared motherhood offers them a path to do so. In this treatment, one female donates eggs (biological parent), and they are fertilised using a donor's sperm. Viable embryos are then implanted in the other female's womb (gestational parent).

Egg Feeezing

Egg freezing may be considered for both social and medical reasons. For example, a patient may wish to preserve their fertility as starting a family is not a current consideration or because they are going to undertake some medical treatment which might impact their fertility in the future.

Sperm Freezing

Sperm freezing may be considered for both social and medical reasons. For example, patients may wish to preserve their fertility ahead of medical treatment, which may impact their fertility, such as chemotherapy.
